We didn't expect selling or buying our home to be as it was. We decided in January of 2020 to move and started the process. When covid hit in March we paused for a bit, but then quickly decided to continue. There was no way anyone would have expected the market to be what it was. Jon guided us, supported us, and educated us every step of the way. He received and responded to every question and concern with knowledge, care, understanding, and honesty. He would say what we needed to hear, not what we wanted to hear at times and in hindsight we are grateful for that. We ended up selling our home in January of 2021 and purchasing our new home in July of 2022. We spent so much time with Jon looking at houses and talking about houses on speaker phone between April of 2020 and June of 2022 that our son started to call Jon "Uncle Jon." Jon guided us, supported us, and educated us every step of the way. He received and responded to every question and concern with knowledge, care, understanding, and honesty. He would say what we needed to hear, not what we wanted to hear at times and in hindsight we are grateful for that. We ended up selling our home in January of 2021 and purchasing our new home in July of 2022. We spent so much time with Jon looking at houses and talking about houses on speaker phone between April of 2020 and June of 2022 that our son started to call Jon "Uncle Jon." This was received with kindness. No matter how many questions we asked, showings that went no where, or offers that were rejected, at no point did Jon make us feel bad or negative about our decisions, suggest we were wasting his time, or make us feel like we were doing something wrong. We lost track of how many houses we saw and how many offers we put in. Through it all, he managed our feelings of frustration, sadness, anger and, at times, feelings of desperation and hopelessness, with care and empathy every time. We knew he felt everything with us. We understood that he was learning that market despite already being a Realtor for 30 years. He never encouraged something that would put us at risk or that he wouldn’t be comfortable doing for himself and his own family, even if it meant more time looking. He never rushed us, or pushed us. He paid attention to details and taught us to do the same. After that long journey we finally found a house that is now our home. It checked almost all of our boxes and we are happy with the choice. We didn’t settle or let those feelings of desperation support a bad decision, thanks to Jon. Every time our son says “ I love our house” it makes every step of our journey worthwhile.
When we decided to sell our home, I leaned on my experience as an administrator for a home inspector and called a former coworker. Jon Ivins was at the top of the list. Jon was extremely helpful when it came to getting ready for the sale. The entire time we were getting our house ready, Jon took the time and care to listen to us and find solutions that worked for us. Thanks to all the preparation, our house was on the market for only a few days before we had several offers to sort through. Jon’s experience really came through when we had to compare the offers. A few of them had escalation clauses, and we ended up getting above asking price for our home! Thank you so much, Jon Ivins, for helping us have a happy ending to the home that took care of us for so many years!
Talk about a daunting process. My wife and I were house hunting at the height of the "real estate boom" in 2021. My wife reminded me that I had spoken very highly of Jon Ivins over the years as I had known him for decades, and we reached out to him during this time when "everyone" was paying way over the asking price and waiving all the normal protections for buyers, like inspections and such. When sitting down with Jon to share our "wish list" of things we might find in a home, we immediately established a trusting rapport. My wife commented appreciatively on Jon's "no nonsense" style of communication and just told us like it is. We both value that characteristic. And talk about service. Jon would actually pick up the phone (no going to voicemail) and respond to emails at all times of the day and worked with us (and our crazy schedules) to plan for tours of houses that we might c…
Jon would actually pick up the phone (no going to voicemail) and respond to emails at all times of the day and worked with us (and our crazy schedules) to plan for tours of houses that we might consider. One thing we were clear about, we were not going to engage in the "price wars". We valued Jon's lifelong learning and significant knowledge of Chester County. We were absolutely confident in the process, and after some time, we finally found our dream home and bought it the "old fashioned" way - negotiating with the seller to a satisfactory price point. We will absolutely engage Jon's services again and highly recommend him to anyone needing a smart, engaged and committed real estate agent who will work hard for you.
When we first decided to sell our home, we had trepidations. How much work would we need to do to get it ready? What kind of time and money would it take? How would we pack up 25 years? Jon calmly led us through every step of the process, with a very successful result. Jon helped us purchase our home years earlier, so it was comfortable and easy to work with him again. He knows Chester County and helped us price the house appropriately. Jon gave sage advice about how to prepare our home for sale and suggested helpful resources. He advised us on pricing our home appropriately and it sold quickly. During the purchase of our home 25 years ago, and during the sale of that home last month, Jon carefully listened to our desires and concerns, provided thoughtful advice, and helped achieve our desired result in a gentle yet efficient manner. Buyers and sellers are in good hands working with Jon!
His extensive knowledge of Chester County and broad experience in real estate is an invaluable advantage to his clients. Representing and consulting with clients either buying or selling new or resale homes, residential investment properties, building lots, and raw ground, he is dedicated to accomplishing his clients’ goals ahead of all others.
